From One Hairstylist to Another:
G’day!
In the last 45+ years, I’ve had the pleasure of doing the hair for celebrities, models and important people on three continents. The glamorous part of the job is great. But the real reward comes when your everyday clients come back to you time after time, recommending your work to their friends with trust and confidence.

How can you reach this level?

The first ingredient you need is love and passion for your chosen profession. Come to work with a burning desire to be the best you can be.

Don’t be a limited hair designer. Limited hair designers use phrases like “If I could only ... “, “I can’t ... “, “I wish I was ... “ and “could’ve, would’ve, should’ve.”

Limited hairdressers always have excuses for why they can’t do something. If that’s you, find ways you can do it. The greatest robbers of today are yesterday and tomorrow. Make the most of today. The only thing you can be sure of is what’s happening now.

Find new ways of creating, new tools to create with, and new ways of seeing your creation. Hair design requires lots of practice, patience, nurturing, and understanding. It also needs more questions and answers.

Try not to divide your focus, and always look at yourself honestly. Believe in yourself and follow your instincts. Your intuition makes you unique – it’s your fingerprint. It makes you stand out. Create your own style. If some people disagree with you, don’t criticize them; thank them, and grow.

Continuous training is the key. Keep learning until you become a teacher, but don’t stop learning. Learn from everyone. Learn from their mistakes, learn from your mistakes, and acknowledge what’s good. Be grateful!
